Applications are now open for businesses wanting to trade at the Old School Throwback Festival on 31 October at Kingfisher Park.
With between 3,000 and 5,000 attendees expected across a sixteen-hour day, the grounds will carry a full food village alongside advertising and activation stands. Organisers say the vendor list is being curated rather than filled.
"We are not looking for ten people selling the same thing," organisers say. "We want variety. Someone doing proper braai, someone doing traditional food, someone doing ice cream, someone doing something we haven't thought of yet."
The audience is a commercially attractive one: predominantly aged 30 to 50, employed, with families in attendance through the daytime and disposable income to spend. Unlike a night event, the festival runs from morning to midnight, meaning breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night trading in a single day.
There is a particular invitation to Zimbabwean heritage brands. The festival is built on nostalgia for the 1990s and early 2000s, and organisers are keen to hear from the companies that generation grew up with — many of which are still trading today.
Food stall and advertising stand applications can be submitted through the website. Spaces are limited and allocated on a first-come basis.
